The work earns us a place on the highway. The charities we support, the communities we work in, and the standards we hold ourselves to — that's the rest of what makes SAUK who we are.
A charity close to our hearts — running free, peer-to-peer support groups every Monday at 7pm for men who need a space to talk about their mental health, without judgement.
The whole SAUK team got together for a charity evening at Owlerton Dogs in Sheffield, raising money for our chosen charity, Andy's Man Club. The team raised £500 on the night, which SAUK then matched pound for pound — taking the total raised to £1,000 in a single week.
Collection tins have been doing the rounds at our Nottingham depot since, and we've taken posters and leaflets onto site to spread the word. The aim isn't just to raise money — it's to make sure every member of our team, and every team we work alongside, knows where to find support if they need it.
"A charity evening with the team — and a chance to back something that matters. Thanks to everyone who came along, donated, and helped us raise an extra £1,000 in a single week. Go team."
— Ben McHugh · Operations Manager
When Cadent ran a fundraising appeal for Rainbows, we backed it with £2,500.
Rainbows is the only hospice for children and young people in the East Midlands — the same patch our crews work in every day. It cares for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and supports their families through the hardest times of their lives.
We're back at Owlerton Dogs on Saturday 26 September 2026 for another evening with the team — this time in support of Lighthouse, the construction industry's own charity.
Lighthouse exists for people who do this work. It offers emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to construction workers and their families, through a free helpline that's open around the clock. Money worries, addiction, problems at home, feeling isolated — the things that sit under the surface on site and rarely get said out loud.
Our industry has a culture problem with mental health. It's why supporting Andy's Man Club isn't just a fundraiser for us — it's a workplace value.
We back this work because the men we work with — on our teams, on our clients' teams, on the streets we open up — are exactly the audience Andy's Man Club exists to reach. Making it easy to find a group, normalising the conversation on our sites, and matching what the team raises out of their own pocket: that's the least we can do.
Awards, audit results and accreditations we've earned through the work.

All the workers have been today whilst replacing the pipes on Main Road were so lovely, polite, helpful and friendly. They were doing a fabulous job and ensuring they were as respectful and indestructive as possible. They were just so polite and considerate. A good bunch of lads — a credit to you.
I thought I should contact you to thank you and your team for the excellent work they have done replacing the supply to our house. They have kept us fully informed and given us updates when their work would affect us. From the young lady who visited us before the work began, to the team who are working hard to complete the work, they have been brilliant.
The team did a fantastic job, and all involved — from the advanced notification to the reinstatement. 10/10.
The reinstatement team have been so polite, friendly and kept her informed — she advised this really made a difference. The team even went out of their way to post a note over the weekend to inform her of the work they were carrying out, and knocked when they had completed all the work.
They had to dig a large hole where ours and our neighbours' pipes meet the gas main. Our block paving was lifted near the house, all with what seemed consummate ease. Whoever replaced our block paving after the pipe was fitted merits special thanks — it is impossible to tell that any work has been done on our drive.
Mr & Mrs Walker were extremely happy with the service. They said the team was fantastic, very helpful, polite, and the communication was great. Also, they were very pleased with the reinstatement. 10/10.
Mrs Clarke has asked me to share how happy she is with the on-going works on St Albans Road. She has asked me to let you know how fantastic the team has been while being at her property. Mrs Clarke is blind, but said the team has made this whole process a breeze and put her at ease throughout the works. She said in all her years she has never met anyone like them. Mrs Clarke said the team is a credit to Cadent and the customers we are working with.
One customer couldn't wait to inform me that they are an asset to SAUK and that Cadent should reward them with all their projects. Another said the team were so kind and friendly with their family that they're missing them terribly, along with the Big Red Lorry — the Vac-Ex.
The team have been exemplary in their work ethics to complete the task in hand, even when they have been faced with situations that were unforeseen. They were courteous and a good representation of Cadent — they set a high standard even before they worked on our site, and I am sure they will continue.
The project is going very well, the site team are fantastic, communication is faultless. Brilliant work — the speed that the project has progressed is fantastic. And I thought that we had no grafters left in the modern world.
Please pass on my thanks to your team and the CLO for all their help during today's incident. Without their on-site assistance, I'm sure we would have left site with many unhappy customers. The team are a real credit to the Cadent customer team and a breath of fresh air in situations like this.
Currently a team from Cadent is working outside my house and I feel I need to say to you, and indeed to them all, a very big thank you for the work they have done and, even more importantly, for who they are. We could not have had a more efficient, pleasant and caring team. I have had the pleasure of seeing a difficult job well done by wonderful people. Well done!
