Antanas Saukaitis
Co-director, working behind the scenes on where the business goes next — new services, and the systems and accreditations that let SAUK take on bigger work.
SAUK Utilities Ltd started out in 2012 as a small gas-sector specialist in the North West, working Manchester's gas mains before moving to the East Midlands — where we've become a trusted partner for clients across the region and beyond, without losing the hands-on culture we started with.
We built the company around one of the hardest, most regulated corners of the utilities sector — replacing live cast-iron gas mains for the UK's largest gas distribution network.
That focus has paid off. As a trusted Cadent partner, in the last five years alone we've replaced over 250,000 metres of cast-iron gas main and successfully reconnected more than 25,000 homes to upgraded supply. We put health and safety ahead of production on every job, and operate from Sheffield, Nottingham and Leicester, covering a wide footprint across the region. Highway reinstatement, Vac-Ex and grab hire have grown alongside the gas programme, building the same standards and culture across every discipline we run.
SAUK closed out the GD2 regulatory period at the very top of the Client KPI Scorecards — the metrics covering Safety, Compliance, Customer and Delivery — across the East Midlands network we serve.
And it wasn't a momentary peak. We held that position consistently for the entire duration of GD2 — five full years, every quarterly review — without once trading safety for output to get there. That is the part we're proudest of, because holding a standard for five years is a different thing from hitting it once.
A huge credit to our site teams, support staff and management. Their standards, discipline and commitment made it happen. Now the focus shifts to GD3, where the challenge is simple: raise the bar again.
To be the best in the utilities sector by leading with new ideas, promoting sustainability, and creating strong partnerships that help communities and raise industry standards.
Our ambition is to be the most trusted utilities company in the UK — known for skill, safety and honesty — while remaining the leading provider in the East Midlands. Every discipline we run, we run to the same standard — and we treat every new contract as something to be earned by the last one, never expected.
Ahead of the industry's 2050 target — cutting fleet and plant emissions step by step through the 2020s, with green technology and cleaner fuels as they mature.
Strengthening long-term collaborations by understanding clients' future needs, tailoring solutions, and consistently delivering more than promised.
Expanding services with intention while keeping the personal, dedicated approach we're known for — not chasing scale at the expense of standards.
Using modern tools, data and analytics to improve project efficiency, predict maintenance needs, and enable better, faster decisions on every site.
Three things shape every project we take on. They aren't slogans — they're the reason clients call us back.
Our "Right First Time" philosophy sits at the heart of everything we do. It minimises rework, protects programmes, and keeps the work moving — for teams, clients and the public alike.
Rigorous quality checks · industry best practice · right first time, not fast first time.
Health, safety and environment aren't a department here — they're a mindset every operative carries onto every job. The order never changes: safety first, production second. When the two pull against each other, the work stops until it's right.
Safety before production · proactive sustainability · environmentally responsible operations.
We believe in clear, transparent communication and long-term relationships, not one-off projects. It's why clients keep coming back to SAUK.
Trusted Cadent partner · proven history of lasting client relationships · reliability, integrity, satisfaction.
The people who run SAUK day-to-day — from the depot to the highway.

Co-director, working behind the scenes on where the business goes next — new services, and the systems and accreditations that let SAUK take on bigger work.

Co-director and the face of the business — client relationships, pricing and final sign-off. Out on management visits across the depots, because standards are set by turning up.

Runs delivery across every depot — programmes, resource, plant and crews. Holds the whole operation together and keeps every site pulling in the same direction.

Runs the numbers behind the work — payroll, accounts, invoicing and financial controls, and the reporting that shows where the business actually stands.

The glue between the office and the depots — keeps processes aligned, paperwork moving and everyone working to the same system. Quietly makes the rest of it possible.

Owns health, safety, environment and quality — site inspections, method statements, audits and training records. The reason safety before production is a rule here, not a poster.
